A very unique feature of our community is that we are surrounded by Amberjack Environmental Park. A 225 acre Nature Preserve maintained by Charlotte County. The park is a surprising collision of scrub and mangrove habitats which gives you an excellent opportunity to see the natural side of Florida. On a recent weekend we took a photo walk through the park and found a rich diversity of nature and wildlife to observe and photograph. Take a look at some of the photos we took and you will have to agree that we have an amazing resource right at our backdoor!

An EggFest is a festival type event where the Big Green Egg enthusiasts (EGGheads) showcase their talents on the Big Green Egg barbecue. It is also an opportunity for those who have been contemplating a Big Green Egg to sample the foods and talk to other egg enthusiasts. In other words, the EggFest is a good excuse to get a bunch of people together and make some great food. Go to the website to get Taster Tickets to enter the event and taste the best Big Green Egg barbecue. The event includes cooking classes, music and beer tent.

Jazz, the uniquely American musical art form, was born in New Orleans in the early 20th century and nurtured on a lively diet of music from around the world–the blues of the American South, rhythms from Africa and the Caribbean, classical music from Europe and France, and more. It’s entirely fitting, then, that the Jazz Club of Sarasota–one of the most active jazz societies in the nation–will present “A World of Jazz” for its 38th Annual Sarasota Jazz Festival. The four-day event, from March 7-10, 2018, will feature 14 musicians from seven nations in four concerts, over a dozen locally based musicians for a Pub Crawl by Trolley, and the French art film Django. In addition, at one of the concerts the Club will present its highest honor, the Satchmo Award, to a musician for “unique and enduring contribution to the living history of jazz.” Festival activities will be presented in various Sarasota venues including Marriott’s new Art Ovation Hotel, downtown Sarasota night clubs and Burns Court Cinema.
Circus Sarasota boasts an impressive roster of international artists pushing human boundaries and leaving audiences awestruck. This year’s performance, titled Ovation, honors the 250th anniversary of the circus arts, its legacy and those who have impacted the artform. Included in an international lineup of all-stars are Ukranian quick change masters the Smirnovs, unbelievable hand balancers Duo KVAS, and French juggling master Kris Kremo. Also featured in the world class performances are the tempting tricks of the Juju tight wire act, Sylvia Zerbini and her masterful horses, AJ Silver and his laser-sharp lasso act, Italian clown Luigi Folco and the extraordinary talents of The Flying Cortes family.
Join the fun at the Plaza Property in Englewood, FL on January 27-28, 2018 for the premiere of the Englewood Seafood & Music Festival. The event will take place Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. General admission to the event and live music is FREE!!
The event is created, as are all good meals, through incorporating and blending the finest ingredients. The Festival offers all food entrees (seafood, meat and vegetarian) prepared fresh on site by local restaurants and food purveyors. Seafood dishes are created using indigenous and sustainable ocean resources from Florida’s coastal waters. Foods will be accompanied by a delicious assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
